Lakewood Baptist is buzzing with activity this August, and there’s plenty to get involved with. Whether you’re a longtime member or new to the community, this week offers exciting opportunities to serve, celebrate, and support missions. From volunteer sign-ups to a fun-filled Awana kickoff, here’s everything you need to know to stay connected and engaged.

Awana Program

Awana Volunteers Needed

Our Awana program thrives because of dedicated volunteers who invest their time and energy into mentoring children. Right now, we need more volunteers to join the team. If you feel called to help, please sign up using the volunteer registration link provided below. Every volunteer makes a difference in shaping young lives and sharing faith in a fun, supportive environment.

Volunteer Meeting Details

Mark your calendar for the Awana Volunteer meeting on August 15th at 9:00 AM. We’ll gather in the fellowship hall, and breakfast will be provided by Mo Mo Donuts and Rock Hill Bagel. This meeting will cover important updates, training, and ways to get involved as we prepare for the new season. It’s a great chance to meet other volunteers and get ready for the exciting year ahead. Please RSVP with Mellon at admin@lakewoodfamily.com!

Awana Kickoff Celebration

The Awana Kickoff event is just around the corner! Join us on August 23rd from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM for an evening packed with fun activities for kids and families. Highlights include:

  • Water balloon games

  • Delicious food

  • A foam party

This kickoff is a perfect way to introduce new families to Awana and celebrate the start of a new season. Bring your kids, invite friends, and enjoy a lively evening of fellowship and fun.

Community Updates

Lost and Found Table Now in the Lobby

Have you misplaced something recently? We’ve set up a new lost and found table in the church lobby. If you’re missing jackets, water bottles, or other personal items, please stop by and check the table. It’s a simple way to reunite with lost belongings and keep our community organized.

Praise Report: “A Little Change Changes Lives!”

Thanks to the generosity of our church family, the “A Little Change Changes Lives!” campaign raised an impressive $1,789.41. Your small change truly adds up to big change!

August Mission Focus

Operation Christmas Child

Our mission focus for August is collecting school supplies for Operation Christmas Child. This month, we are asking for:

  • Crayons

  • Pencils

  • Notebooks

Our Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are now ready for packing and can be found in the mission corner in the lobby. Please pick up a box, fill it with gifts and other basic necessities, and help us reach our church-wide goal of 1,000 boxes. Each box is more than a gift; it’s a chance for a child to hear the Gospel and experience God’s love firsthand. Your participation in this mission makes a lasting difference.

Get Involved!

Lakewood Baptist is a place where faith grows through service, fellowship, and outreach. This week’s events and opportunities invite everyone to get involved and support our community. Whether you volunteer with Awana, join the kickoff celebration, or contribute to Operation Christmas Child, your participation matters.

Take a moment to sign up as an Awana volunteer, join us for breakfast on August 15th, and prepare for a joyful kickoff on August 23rd. Don’t forget to check the lost and found table if you’ve misplaced anything and consider packing a shoebox to bless a child this Christmas.

Let’s make this season at Lakewood Baptist one of connection, generosity, and celebration. See you there!
